Hey everyone, this is probably a remedial question. I searched the old post/threads and couldn't find the answer. I believe the hub I have in the pic is a spool hub... The question I have is this: How do i tell a spool hub? And what makes a hub a spooled hub? Is it the manufacturing process? Any info is appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Static616

OK, I'll have mercy on ya. A spool hub is just what you've pictured. I couldn't write ya a Websters definition, but basically a spool hub is a little bitty thing like that with no provisions for a brake. You'll see some people refer to small center HD wheels as spools, but they're bigger and have holes to bolt a rotor to, etc.

Wow just caught up with the post. I wasn't asking as a matter of "cool". Wanna be? Me? Yeah I guess you're right. I wanna be the best father, husband, brother, friend, tradesman that I can be at all times. And actually that hub came outta my Pops parts he left us when he passed, a few years back.

Gary Nixon and other flat track greats made them popular on street bikes, besides the choppers. C'mon you know it, flat trackers are as cool as choppers anyday. We all wanted XR-750's and Star Racer framed 650 Bonne's. Dirt track was another source for the spool hubs.
