I don't know if it could be your problem or not, but the Super E has an adjustable acc. pump and I've seen a lot of them that are adjusted so fat that they flood the bike when you crank the throttle. Most of them that I've seen run best when the acc. pump is almost shut off and just dribble out a little gas when you twist the throttle.

on the accelerator pump screw, turning it in=less pump, out=more. 1 1/4 isn't much at all, go out few turns (close to full) and see if it improves...it cant hurt tune back in 1/4 turn at a time from there. a re-read of the s&s manual my help; here's the link: http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/download/ssmanuals/super_e_g.pdf

 

I'll give it a try in the morning.

 

1) Running lean / intake leak.

2) Wrong spark plugs installed.

3) Not enough accelerator pump stroke.

4) Timing retarded.

5) Bad coil.

Thats (in order) what I would chase.

Not getting gas consistently - low or intermittant flow.

check the petcock screen for gumminess, or even the gas cap not venting (I know, that's a stretch).

Maybe your enrichener isnt all the way seated?

 

usually popping out the carb = lean and popping out the pipe = rich .
however, in my experience, intermittent running problems usually turn out to be electrical.

 

When you changed the points did you change the condenser?And adjust the timing?

Also hows the battery voltage?

Just stuff I would check.

 

Is there a circuit breaker on the battery? If there is try bypassing it ,rev it up and see if that helps.
