Has anybody ever use the reed valve that S&S sell's that replaces the breather in the engine?
I put one in my shovelhead,on cold start's I get a few drop of oil about the size of a silver dollar coming out of the case vent hose it's blowing on the ground, I was wondering if I should point the hose up and put a filter on it,what do you guys think

I've been running one for a few years on my case breather Shovel, works well. No! Don't point it up and put a filter on it. Ever.

I put one in my 1989 flh chest breather before I knew you weren't supposed to do it and put one in my sons head breather. We're both happy with them. I will get a spot on the floor below the breather hose but only after a hard run so I'm wondering if you have some wet sumping going on. I tried the up hose with the filter once and all it did was make a heck of a mess, took off the filter and point the hose down, no more problems.

My scooter wasn't putting the recommended daily allowance of oil on the garage floor so I had a reed valve installed to remedy that situation.

Well I talked to S&S yesterday they said your not suppose to use that reed valve in a shovelhead, and he said that the shovelhead motor was built to blow oil on to the rear chain with it getting it's oil from the feed on the oil pump,he recommended going back to a breather gear, thanks for the input guys

Hmmm, is the S&S breather gear is more $$$ than the reed valve? The oil out of my Shovel with the reed is about the same as with the breather gear, which isn't much.
