Morning all,
Been lurking on the board for years and always managed to finish my builds before thinking I should have got photos.
I am currently half way through a little Ironhead build so thought I'd start posting my progress. It's a real back yard build and is done with hand tools, brute force and ignorance so pretty traditional.
Some history of the project so far:
So whilst browsing eBay a couple of years back I saw an engine and frame section from a '77 Ironhead up for grabs. No one had bid so I bid low and then went out for the evening. Not expecting to win it but figuring 'why not?'. Came home to find I had won the damn thing! Doh! Now what do I do with it?
Anyhoo I figured I'd build up a little rigid bike out of it using the factory frame with a weld on hard tail. Cheap and cheerful.
I fitted a rear section and cobbled together a bike using random spare parts from the garden shed and swapmeets and stood back to admire it.
All good until I stepped behind and noticed that the headstock was about 2" out of line with the ass end. Turns out it was an engine and frame section for a reason. Must have taken a shunt and been scrapped.
Stripped it back down and put it in the little garden shed and moved on to other things.
