This is why you should always check the tappet screen filter when you buy a new scoot. I picked this bike up and the top end sounded like an old sewing machine. I think the picture will speak for itself, but the filter was in upside down and crushed like a folded wade of paper. It's amazing how much quietier the top end is when it's getting oil.

Do you sew with that shovel? Mine sounds more like a rock crusher. So I use it for crushing rocks.

dont cha love it when you find a problem!
I like it when I find the problem and it's a CHEAP fix! The guy also thought the bottom end was coming apart, but I've heard that compensator noise before. It'll scare the bejesus out ya if you don't know what it is, but it's also cheap and easy. I'm sure he's braggin to his friends about how he took me because that motor was about to blow apart, but I'm the one smilin' with my knees in the breeze!
