I have to buy some Whitworth tools for my Matchless. I know that Whitworth(BSW) has a different thread than British Standard(BSF) but are the heads the same? If I buy a set of wrenches that are advertised as British Standard are they going to work on my Matchless (Whitworth)? Thanks,
Jakemon

..

briefly .. yes, you'll be ok ..

like you said thread pitch is another thing ..

as for wrench-flat size, BS (British Standard) and Whitworth (W) are consistent, just labeled differently (but likewise consistently differently)

I have several sets of older wrenches labled with Both systems ..
as so :

7/16 BS = 3/8 W
3/8BS = 5/16 W
5/16BS = 1/4 W
1/4BS = 3/16 W

etc, etc .. see, same tool, 2 values ..
