I'm looking at V Twin's Fatboy wheel covers for the rear of an '02 XLC Sportster (same rear wheel as '00 - '02 Fatboy). The covers are only listed for up to '99.
Is the difference only the bearings? Does anybody know if they will fit? Thanks

the axle size is larger in the later years. They use a 1 inch axle as opposed to the old 7/8 axle

The center spigot is larger so you need the 00 and later pullys/disc.

Casting changed as well, fronts are front only, cant make them into rears any more......

yeah...my mistake. I was turning 7/8 axles on a lathe today, and my brain is still stuck on those

This photo is a 01 XLC... I polished the wheel out.....
Was going to do the same as what you have in mind....But didn't want to give up the slots....

Thanks, I didn't realize the castings had changed...but, are the rears the same, and just the fronts were changed?

As said before, your gonna have to cut your pulley/ disc for the bigger hole and swap bearings for the different axle size

I found out yesterday from a neighbour who's been a mechanic for 32 years at a local shop, the center of the casting is larger on '00 and later because of the bearing change. So to fit covers for an '99 to an '00 and later, the hole in the cover would have to be enlarged.
