I took the valves out last night and media blasted the head.
The right exhust port is pitted and in bad shape. Also it looks as if the sparkplug hole was rethreaded at some point (both right side of pic)
And at some point someone replaced one valve guide(upper left in pic)

Is this thing in that bad of shape??

I was cleaning this up to send out to get redone but with the pitted valve seat can it be done with out much extra$$$ The guy I talked with about doing the work quoted me $1500.00 for redoing the head and boring the cylinders including pistons/gaskets etc. Does this sound about right?

Nope sounds pretty high to me. Talk to Wes @ 4 aces. His website has shop quotes and he deals with Brits, which I am assuming that one is.
