I had a friend tell me the other day there is a certan year shovel that is always breaking the motor mounts. Not sure I have ever heard of this, has anybody ever heard of a year motor that does that??

Nope, there is not, probly just one that wasnt ballenced..... Vibraition or not mounting/shimming it right will break any motor mount.

My 78 FX every 1500 miles would break the 1/2" top motor mount bolt if I rode it hard. You could realy feel the difference everytime it happened!!!

81 shovelhead.Over the years i have had three to four sets of 80-81 shovelheads have the crankpin shot crooked.You could tell that there was something weird when you saw the pattern in the cylinder wear.Looks like a gyroscopic wear pattern on the cylinder bore instead of a straight scuff. Pull the wheels out and put them on a truing stand and they were not that bad,not bad enough to see what i saw in the cyl.
First years of the commonised crank pin.I dont care how well you reballance it,This thing will shake.
