hey names marcus godinez i just bought a 2006 custom bike.twisted chopper frame 1200 evo motor and trans. i heard about this board through a few friends on the h.a.m.b. .I need some light shed on a few issues im having with my sled. first is wether or not the trans is wet or dry. the guy i got the bike from says its dry and the harley techs say wet. when we removed the inspection cover it is chain driven. leading me to believe its supposed to have oil. its dry as a bone. the second is it has 2 custom oil tanks that have caps in the tops with holes in them im guessing to relive oil pressure. The problem is when its running they blow oil like a geysur. is there supposed to be a breather on the crankcase? any help would be appreciated!

well for starters...primary chaincase is to be wet...you run that anylonger you might as well pull the tranny because you will have damage no doubt....how and the hell could one figure it is a dry assembly unless the trans has been modified to retain Sport Trans fluid in it which I doubt that mod has been done...now I don't know what year motor you have in it...there is obviously a breather problem...the later models have head breathers shed some light there on what year motor you have 4-speed or 5-speed there could be a few different variables there...

should of also mentioned your custom tanks may not be bunged high enough so when the pressure go through the oil it is causing your "geysur" effect where are the fittings located?? top, bottom, side??
Sounds like whoever built the bike missed out on a few primary lessons in building 101. I'd look into taking the thing apart and putting it back together with some care and attention to detail. If the builder didn't know the chain case and tranny need lubrication, then he likely didn't know much else, either.

i got the tranny filled with fluid n aced the in line clutch today. found out why the tranny was dry no damn drain plug. fixed that as well. ive already started working through everything. it was definitly thrown together to put it lightly. the motor is a 98 /99. the oil caps are on top of the oil tanks.Fixing the oil geysur is my next project. I have to give it up to the guys at White Rock Customs for helping out. Any info anybody could provide would b great.It sounds like a mess but for what i have in the bike iits not surprising.

[Not sure on the mileage. no odometer. and the guy i got it from said ten on the new bike and 1200 on the donor motor. so he says. The pipes were still chrome no blueing until i let it run. I doubt that he ran it at all. Ive already spent the last week tearing into it .
