I find that with track prep and the different compound on new M&H tire smoking runs will have to be made on a double today.
A couple of things Wayne. If you want to smoke the tire for a full pass, you're going to have to up the tire pressure, up the nitro percentage, and go to a lower final gear ratio. It won't hurt to feather the front brake a bit too.....

You have to remember, when Boris and GrandDaddy Joe and Glen were doing it back in the day, they had those motors set on kill to go along with the shitty tires they had then.

You'd like your parts to last a while, so you're gonna have to play around with clutch, gear ratio, and tire pressure to get the desired effect. Or bump the nitro to 98% and dump some benzene in her. You'll get the desired tire smoke and then some...HAH!

Video from 2013 T&O Bike drags last weekend mMMmmm the smell of Nitro
Double 96" Ironhead

Photo from the year before bike was owned by David Larson I think he may have sold it.
Hopefully I have this right, somebody correct me if not.

The bike was built back in the day by Anthony Courter. It is now owned by a guy out of Kansas and Anthony is riding it again, since the guy that owns it, doesn't know much about fuel.

Anthony is a hell of a nice guy and will be running it at Red's race in October if I am not mistaken.

And by the way Mr. Spittle, this is an incredible opportunity that you have helped create. On behalf of what is rapidly becoming a huge deal, Vintage Drag Bike Racing, Thank you for what you have done here in this thread and especially with this announcement.

I'll throw another name out, that I am sure you are already considering; Pete Hill

Ya gotta love the L series. I still run one on our gas bike.

I talked to Glen Kerr last night for a while, they are getting ready to take off. Heading to MI for the concours show and then meandering their way out to Sturgis.

I have to tell you, the conversations with him are some of my favorite ever. I am so honored to get to share with him, the stories of the history of this great sport. When I see his name pop up on the ol caller ID, I get as giddy as a little girl!

We had a great Vintage season this year and are looking forward to bigger and better things for next year!

I know of a couple of Vintage fuel bikes that may find their ways back to the track this year. Mine included.

The guys that we are doing this with are the greatest. Mark and his son Jake brought that gorgeous, black and orange sporty out a couple of times this year. Clean is an understatement to be sure!

There is a shot of me that Dan Ricks got at the Meltdown at the bottom of this post. This is the pass that broke all 3 chain tensioners. It also broke the lower left wheelie bar mount, clean off of the frame. Didn't find that out until Eddyville though!

The best place to follow us in terms of events, is any one of our individual facebook pages, plus the NVMDRA facebook page at:

https://www.facebook.com/vintagedragbikeracing/?fref=ts

We are talking about some great stuff for next year, so keep up with us....If you can!!

Here is a link to the video from Eddyville, Inside Drag Racing and the WMDRA present the S&S Proven Performance Nationals: WARNING, turn down your speakers for the 1st minute, there is a VERY loud tone at the beginning of the video

Well, I finally went!! I've heard about the Antique Motorcycle Festival at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham Alabama for years but October is always a busy month for me and something has always interfered. But my good friend Glen Kerr twisted my arm last weekend and I joined him and his family. My wife went along and we both enjoyed the weekend immensely.
Frank, It was great meeting you and getting to visit with you for a bit! Thank you for taking time out of your day for us. We enjoyed it Immensely!

Not sure if you have heard or not on FB, but we are doing a fundraiser for GrandDaddy Joe to try and help him regain a bit of mobility. Wondering if you would mind if I post the link here?
