I have currently finished the final assembly on my bike and am trying to start it, but i wanted to make sure i had good oil pressure. I filled the oil bag and lines with oil and took out the plugs, i then proceeded to kick it over. The problem i am having is the oil is not getting to the rockers, and i have pressure (oil pressure guage instead of dummy light) Upon checking my manual it states , " after running engine for a couple of minutes check rocker feed" does this mean that by kicking it i will not get enough pressure built up to send oil to the rockers?

Thanks,

Jason

yep

if after a minute or two RUNNING you still dont have any shut it down and check for a problem
I have sort of the opposite problem up here in Edmonton. I just got my bike on the road and am having an issue with my rear rockerbox. I can't get the waisted bolt to stop dripping oil.
Am I getting too much oil up to the rockerbox??
I noticed that the hole in my hex tank return line was to big. If I held my finger over it while the bike was running it would shoot oil up there. also while the motor is revving it does pump it up there.

I'd say it will work if it's running.

Make sure you have the lines on right !

Aneal the copper washer or just buy new ones and install new O- rings on the shaft .

o-rings? The parts book I'm looking at don't show any o-rings.

Where do they go? Can you show me a diagram that shows them?
The O-ring is on the other end of the rocker shaft. This is the smooth end on the left side as your sitting on the bike.

This is a 500cc so the rocker oil line delivers oil in the top of the rocker box and my oil drip is coming from the bottom side of the rocker box where the waisted bolt goes in.

I think you guys are talking 650's...
Thanks for all the help, I tried to start her tonight, trying means i a only managed a backfire. I going to re-check my timing tomorrow, as i have installed a hunt mag and didn't have the points installed like hunt advises before installation. With any luck i will get her running and oiling tomorrow night.

Kicking with plugs out and finger over the return line outlet definetly should send oil to the rockers. If not do some checking ,especially that your oil lines are hooked up the right way at the engine .
Guys got the timing set and fired up, i would like to say first kick, but it was more like 15, and i am glad to say the oil pump is working. I did notice that the oil pressure was rather high 80 psi, time for a new pressure regulator....
