Does anyone know what the two cylindrical horizontal parts welded to the front of the neck are for? I looked at every page of my parts and workshop manuals and I can't find what they are for. A guess is fuse sleeve holders. I'll hack them off and smooth the neck if they don't have to be exactly there. Do you know?

I have dealt with a lot of oif's, and have never seen those on a frame. They might have been added later on by someone else.

I have a pretty large volume of OIF pics, and I have not seen these on any of the frame pics in my files. This is '71, so first year OIF. The pieces completely look factory installed. If they werent then someone did a really nice job fabricating and installing them.

They're factory installed. Later pre-oif frames had those on the neck casting. As was said, they are for a fairing of the frame mounted variety. Primarily used on the domestic police versions of Triumphs.

Okay. Since these are fixed to the neck and don't move with the trees/forks I would be interested in seeing a photo of the fairing. Maybe it was a fixed fairing, or maybe the fairing moved with the trees/forks and the point on the neck didnt move. Interesting, either way.
