Starting my triumph build and am just curious about what magnetos are for? I see them on some bikes and not others.. Just looking to get a better understanding of he purpose.. Thanks all

They were for racing, but if you want a super light bike, then it combind with a bat elimanator, and Bam!

Simplifys the wiring , they have internal coils and run the engine . the alternator runs the lights. No battery... More expensive I guess but they look good too.

The only hassle free ignition there is for a Triumph, no battery needed, hot sparks.
Brit bikes equals wiring and other electrical problems most of the time, with a good magneto it allways runs.

I have had points- and electronic ignitions with and without a battery they have all given me a headache at some point. Even with completely new wiring and a new rotor.

I am not electronically chalenged, wiring industrial generators and engines used to be my job. I know what works and what doesn't, never took a shortcut on my Triumph but still.....

A magneto saves me a lot of trouble.
