So, for about an hour I've been inspecting gears and shafts from miscellaneous pre units. I know these gears are pretty tough and it's easy to see hard wear, but the differences can be minimal. To top it off, I have been searching on the internet (and an hour on here) trying to find any info as far as clearances (ex: .005).of the gears and shafts. It is frustrating there's nothing out here (except what I found on JCR engineering which has some info). But nothing on if the gears are worn enough to warrant sending them to the metal recycling bin or good enough to chance re-installing. I wish there was something more clear than just "if it feels right, it's ok."

Any info would be great.
