So I had my wheels rebuilt recently and I am having an issue with the rear brake arm on the front brake plate returning. The front arm works fine and returns smoothly and the return spring is plenty stong but when I attach the rod that connects the two I am having a problem with it sticking. The return springs inside the hub are solid (seeming). Any places to start? Is there supposed to be a return spring on the rear arm?
I looked at my parts manual... there seems to be no spring in the image. I am talking about the rear arm of the front Twin leading shoe brake, but the image is pretty shitty so I figured I would ask.
Okay, I see what you mean. No, there is no spring for the rear arm. I did think that you were referring to the rear brake arm of the rear brake plate !
There is no return spring on the rear arm on the TLS front brake plates, only on the front arm. Does the brake cam rotate smoothly in the bore? Does it do it with the shoes installed and both springs installed?
