Personally I'd just restamp it. Just be careful where you restamp it. Research where they were stamped in '60 (I believe left downtube, top at about the 10 o'clcok position). Hopefully there is no sign of distress in that area, as it could lead them to suspect grinded numbers. I think also one key point - don't make the numbers look too perfect, age shallows indentations, and remember they were originally done on an assembly line by hand.
