Just out of curiousity, anyone ever tried to tilt a Commando motor backwards to make it look more like an Atlas motor. Any reason it wouldn't work. Don't tell me to get an Atlas instead, i'm just wondering if it could be done.

Nothing like first hand experience, which I can't offer here :)
But... a lot of folks have fit Commando engines into older
frames (like Atlas) which props the engine upright... the only
issues I recall being mentioned are: the carb mounts need to
be changed and... the flywheel balance factor needs to be
changed because Commando engines are balance for rubber
mounting... otherwise you get a lot of vibes.

I also looked at doing it once . It seems all you have to do is move the oil picup tube so it stays at the bottom .
