Oi . I have a nicely painted custom tank . Some bozo left masking tape on a section that has gold leaf on it . I've soaked it in distilled water and the top of the tape came off but the dried up sticky bit remains . I don't want to damage the tank or the gold leaf so any ideas on how to remove it ?

Has the leaf got 2pc clear on it ?
If it has prep sol will do, If it has'nt you will find it hard, try using another bit of masking tape to try to dab off the glue.
Glasurit makes a prep wash that is for water borne paints and it dose'nt attack
solvent base coats maybe that is worth a try.
go easy and good luck

Nah Ken . The tape has been on there for donkey's ages by the looks . I have Prep Sol but I'm paranoid it will lift it .
I'd just be super careful...and PATIENT with the process...(don't slobber it all over the leaf work)...and you autta be just fine.

Wrap a rag around a popsicle stick or the tip of a ruler, get this damp (not wet) with the Prep-Sol, and go at it from ABOVE the leafing.
