So the other night I pulled my baby out of the shed. A 93 XLH883 that I bought new at Sturgis in 1992!!! This was in fact the first 93 sportster on the road.

I road this bike to Alaska and back....we have over 100,000 miles together. And she saved my life, literally. But that is a story for another day.

ANYWAY, I started stripping it down the other night, we are gonna make this the minimal machine.....she has been bored to 1200cc and ported and polished.....so it is time to clean her up, drop her to the ground, and lighten her up.

We were looking around the shop (I hace not decided what tank to use yet, and Big RIc had an old Super Glide tank in the rafters......

This is, imo. one of the ugliest tanks that Harley made.....ever. BUT for some reason I think it looks good, perhaps I have changed, or perhaps it just needed the right application.

Next we cut off the swing arm and start welding!!!!

I'm doing the same thing to my 2001 883. Besides the hardtail section, the engine is getting a 1200 conversion. I started last Wednesday night. Frame stripped down Friday night. And the back half chopped off today. We should have the back half tubes bent up, fish mouthed and welded up tomorrow. Doing the work at my buddy Matthew in SD's shop.
