No brake light required, for a daytime MOT you have no lights of any kind, all you need is a horn and a reflector on the rear, on the centre line of the bike, these are basically the same requirements for a bicycle when used on a public highway.Is a brake light required?
True, the rules around lights vary with age, for example you need indicators (turn signals in the US) after1986 and what you said about the brake switch, I think there is another date for combined front and back brake switches but with daytime MOT it is no lights.it depends on year of first registration... but in practice it's not that well understood by those doing MOT tests or a blind ee is turned
