Should I run a stator cover on open belt?

Sorry I mean a belt guard on the drive pulley.

1986 Evo engine.

I already hacked up my inner primary to make a bearing support for the transmission shaft. Now, Should I hack up my old inner primary and make a stator cover for running a 1.5" open belt? I already cut out the bearing portion for the transmission. Now I'm wondering should I run a stator cover for the front pulley? Pros and cons?

I see no advantage, or disadvantage to either way. The aftermarket stator covers are everywhere, and they fit and cover the stator better than a cutup inner primary. Depends on the look you are after.
