Gonna be starting a build, so while I am taking a dinner break (antibilly.. lol), Ive got a quaestion about a crotch rocket shock. Any one got good pictures of how the mount with the linkages? Being a cusom build using a sporty motor, I can ad-lib it to where ever I need it, but need a basic diagram so that it still gets to do what it needs to..

Make sense?

I know specialy here eh? Im not fond of softails a bunch, but Im building a single side assed bike (sporty) and I was running some numbers (as accuratley as I can get..) and decided if there isnt any movement in the back wheel then the side forces are a lot more, so sssa is the way I have to go..

rev/Chris, any way you can get a few real pics for me? Just loking at the diagram I think I got how the eliptical swing works at the bottom, but wanna make sure and need to see the top mount also. Thanks for the diagram:cool:

its dark and raining outside right now,so i cant get a picture..maybe later today or tomorrow i cant get a real picture right now.the top from what i can see just mounts to the frame like any other shock..

for now, lets see if you can get anything off this haynes manual screen capture.

Yep that does work for me. They almost make it look like the bottom mount doesnt move though?

The only thing that confuses me is the shock I have is off a 954 and is a bit differnt.. but for 30 bucks for it, can afford to go with something different...

What kind of rocket do ya got?

if youre going single sided, maybe check out a modern triumph swingarm/shock (my 04 speed triple has one) i also think a couple ducati's have a real sick aluminum/titanium tubing single sider (mines cast aluminum)
Being a tight ass though, I cant afford the new shock and mount system from either of them. Also Im fabbin my own swingarm and hub, almost done with those parts.

After the frame is done Im gonna post it on here. While a little different than chopper or bobber or anything kind of conventional (I hope) I think some of you guys will dig it.

Also, since Im splitting the rockers, will that make up for the "un-coolness" of it having a shock?

yeah,it looks like the bottom doesnt move, but it definatly does.you lower sport bikes with the whole bottom set up,with what you call lowering links..anyways,sport bike rear suspension from what i gather work on pretty much the same theory..my bike is a 1998 yamaha yzf600r (not an R6)

sounds like it may be an interesting project, looking forward to see how it comes out
