I can't help with the noise, but for those of you that might, you have to click the link instead of clicking the video.

To me..It sounds like the starter clutch gears are making the noise....Being the mainshaft is not turning until you engage the clutch.
Could do a test of sorts for seeing if this is the cause....

While the motor is running....Take the kick arm all the way to the bottom of it's stroke....What that does is pulls the starter clutch gear away from it's mate....If the noise stops...Something is up with the Kick gear inside the Kick Cover....
