ALL shovels were originally electric start. Kick only wasn't even an option from the factory after 1964 as far as I know.

FX were kick start only. Early Fx primary were not even machined for electric start. FXE were electric start. 1979 was the last year to buy a kickstart only FX. KIckstart was used till 1985 with electric start on 4 speed models.
