What is the purpose of this thing? A photo is attached. I couldn't find an answer via search. Thanks in advance.

Maybe it was to route the stator wires.

that tube is what channeled the oil from the oil catch up top (that "C" shaped thing) down to the primary chain.
they are usually all torn up.

I can't see a reason to keep it. One end of the tube is almost touching a tooth and the other end is too. Both ends are mangled.

I believe the end on the right is actually supposed to be up inside the hole coming out of the C channel, ya just ditch it

Oh. Now I see the hole above and to the right. Can't really see it in the picture but I can see how the right end of the tube, if it was longer, would go up inside that hole.
