I have used Oxalic acid to remove rust on chrome fenders and steel rims and various other chrome bits with great success . I am hoping for the same results on this bare metal hub... Its pretty rusty but my question is .... will the oxalic acid weaken the alloy rim or hurt the spokes or anything else in any way.... Last thing I want is a compromised front wheel on my motorcycle.

I can't see it causing any serious problems, but just to stay on the safe side you might want to try it on a couple of inconspicuous spots on the aluminum.
