I came across a 78' CB750 today with 18k on it. Its black, in mostly original shape, needs pipes, chain, sprockets, a once over.. It runs well and really scoots.. I can probably get it for $750

There is at the same place a 82' Yamaha Virago 750 thats in nicer shape with 22k on it. Its clean, a lot slower, and needs a once over. This one is $950

Opinions? Its mainly for a cruiser to clean up and ride and maybe more down the road.

Viragos suck.....

The engine is the frame.....not much room for changes....LOTS of vibrations....
the virago was shaky, that CB really moved.. Is 750 a fair price on a running CB Its gonna need paint and cleaning, it has wire wheels, new tires, and has one monster sissy bar / luggage rack!
cb.................... oir you will regret it, LOL

id listen to the majority "CB"
CB cafe, I know I said it once, but no one is gonna say virage, and a cafe cb is a mighty coo bike.
what about price? It seems to be okay... the guy wants 850 said he'd take 800. I wanna squeeze a lil more outta him.. an I think he'll take 750.

Take cash...make a lowball offer.....and be ready to take it immediately. I've owned four 750's, and they all were fast, fun, dependable. Viragos are tough to make look right.
hey hatch, I've been meaning to stop by...

I am really diggin the CB, it runs well... hey you got any spare pipes for that thing?

The one thing holdin me back is that nice lil triumph lookin for a home at your place.
get The Cb750....muuuuch Cooler
and Viragos Have Horrible
starters-not If They Are Bad But When They Will Fail-cheif
alright, well I'm takin cash an headin back out today if I have time... Its a long drive out to where it is...
You will dig the CB and there is way more aftermarket support so finding parts, choppers, stock or cafe will be easier. Have fun, and let's see some pics.

CB 750 all day long. Ten times cooler that a virago could ever be!
When I was a freshman in HS I had an 82 Virago 750.. I thrashed it and it took it without so much as a hiccup.. BUT, I had a buddy with a 78 (I think) CB 750, and it rocked... I always wanted his CB.

Buy the CB.
The Virago has got to be one of the ugliest bikes ever made, right up there with V-Max and the V-Rod. Something about bikes with Vs in them makes 'em hideous.
I just rolled my Vincent out to the curb:D ..come and get it
