'Morning,

I was rummaging through my dads stuff yesterday, picking up 300-400lbs of bar/flat/ sheet stock and remembered his collection of misc bike parts in the stable.

What is the general concensus, would you use a 10 year old tire for anything but mock up? I found 3 good Dunlop 3"x21" front tires. The rubber looks and feels good, they were stored inside so they didn't get beaten by the elements... but would you trust them on a semi-daily runner?

Hey Mark,

What kind of Dunlops...??? I might have a guy here who might be interested in buying one of you (if it's the one I'm thinking of)..

And, if they feel allright... I wouldn't be scared to run one daily. I think my Avon is about 10 years old too....

It's the sidwall cracks that weaken the ability for the tire to preform in cornors. I wouldn't be too afraid if the intended use is not high perfomance and the tire was free of blems. Check with a magnifying glass, in and out. I would spring for new tubs and bands.
