Need help identifying part on S&S 96" Evo

On the front of the S&S 96" Evo engine there is a small metal plate held on by 2 torx20 bolts. When standing in front of the bike, the plate is directly to the right of the oil filter. Anyone know what it is or what it's covering?

Mine seems to be weeping a little bit of oil that I have to clean off after every ride.
