stupid question i'm sure...but it will not be my last...

i am about to buy a reproduction springer (looking to get off www.aaok.com, anyone have good/bad things to say about them? better through vtwin?) and have a 1" stem on my frame...can i install with timken bearings? they have ball bearings/frame cup/race for sale for install on the site, but i didnt know if i had to go that way. if not, how can i make sure i get the right bearings/frame cup, or are they universal for 1" stem? new to all this.

guess that's it. any advice?

I used them on my '36EL springer no trouble. Just have to have matching cups. Can get all at www.jirehcycle.com. They undersell everyone. They're located in Festus, Mo. Hope this helps.
