having ridden my chops with both i can tell ya this, low bars handle better-high bars look better--------i'd go for the handling as it seems that 90% of the road kings i sent out out of the dealership i worked at had apes, kinda spoiled it for me, however my fx will have med high bars=best wishes. dave

Figure out what feels most comfortable (get a cheap set of each as you already have), then pick from the many styles out there.

FWIW - I really like the look of the high....

I currently have a set of 14" apes atop 3" risers on my sporty...before this, I had 16" apes on the 1.5", shorty risers. The bike started out with stock HD flat-track-style bars and pull back risers. I never thought the high bars were uncomfortable...in fact, I think they are more comfortable then the low bars. The low bars made my back and shoulders cramp up more on long rides. Maybe that is just my personal preferrence, though.
