Hi All

Anyone fitted or know if these kits have provision for pressure lubricating the exhaust tappets ?

I have the new Morgo .pdf, and while it mentions dowels, its not very clear & to me it read's like instructions for a Chinese bicycle.
"make sure the con-rods are not bent by passing a rod through one into the other....Stubbs silver steel will do the job well" I don't know what the hell that means ?

any help greatly appreciated

Silver steel is centreless ground to size and very accurate so a long enough piece the same size as the gudgeons should fit thru both small ends unless one rod has a twist

If you're using nitrided cams as used by triumph themselves after 1969 then the oil feed to the tappets is not needed and only wastes oil that would be better being sent to the big ends. The oil coming down from the exhaust rocker box should lubricate the tappets and the cam needs very little if nitrided.

The point morgo are trying to make with the silver steel thing is make sure your engine is in good enough condition to cope with the extra 100 cc.

As usual my slightly odd sense of humor has distracted from what I was asking.

When I read "make sure the con-rods are not bent by passing a rod through one into the other" I just go to the bench and do something like this with a kinda stupid grin on my face.


(honestly that is just plain worded badly)

What I really need to know is...
Do the Morgo MkIII & 850cc ROUTTE kits have the oil ways drilled for pressure fed lubrication of the tappets or are they blanked off like the MAP kits?

Would be great to hear from anyone that has fitted one lately.

The Routt kit has no oiling to the tappetts.

I have a morgo kit and its not drilled for a tappet feed, i don't know what mark mine is though, morgo answer emails very promptly though and should be able to tell you in a minute.

What cams are you using ?

You guys have pretty much answered my question.

What cams am I using ? That is the question....

I have some old NOS sports cams I want to use, I'm concerned they may not be hard so I'd like to get a little oil to them.
So do I ditch them altogether, buy something else, I also have 10 stud barrels and heads I could use....

At this stage I'm just thinking

Thanks mate. will keep the T140 Rods in mind....have some steel ones around here somewhere, horrible on a road bike, but like I said I'm just thinking at the moment.

hopefully this bike will be my daily rider. I have a couple of rollers & I just bought some nasty mismatched cases, so we will see where it ends up.

Going to clean the cases up tomorrow and start from there
