I personally have never met a person who has ever changed their fork oil using the drain screws. I've changed the oil by taking them apart or dropping them and dumping it but I've never used the screw drains.

I'd get rid of them if you don't use them.

yes, that's why I don't see the point to keep those screws...
did you have the experience of filling some of those holes?
I've never filled any of mine and I never take the screws out because I don't want to risk stripping them. If you're going to take the time to shave them, I'd have them welded up. I can't weld aluminum so I'd have to have someone do it for me but I don't see where it would be a problem as long as the weld wouldn't come into contact with anything inside the lower leg.

I've seen them eliminated, but I've never done it personally.

Hehe... I've never taken a fork out of a tree unless the seals were toast. Matter o' fact, I've had a lot of miles on the same seals just from changing fluid every season. I've never stripped one of those drain screws; I never even thought to worry about stripping the aluminum. Stupid is as stupid does, right?
