correction - the factory used morris mags, I used to have a 16" rear lester mag, took about 2 years of advertising it before it found a new homePopelli, if you decide to part with them, keep me in mind
Danny, i did use the search button and only got seven hits, that's why i posted the question. i just bought a front 19" 7 spoke off of ebay and am going to try and starting hunting now for the rear to match. Doesn't matter that I don't have a bike for them yet, i figure I'll build a bike around the wheels.Use the search button...
I've heard that they were crack prone. Also, not really a defect, but those made for HD's were machined with a tire bead profile that is now obsolete.I've been diggin' the looks of the old 7 spoke Lesters for a while now, but never see any on any bikes being built. are my tastes just messed up, or was there some sort of defect with them?
The XLCR used MORRIS wheels. I've been running Lesters since 1977. They were designed as DIRECT replacement for factory wheels...which is why they lost out to Morris (manufacturing costs). Also, both my single and dual disc front wheels are FIVE (5) bolt pattern.factory used them on the 77 xlcr
have a spare set but they have 6 mounting holes for discs rather than 5, have never quite worked out what to do with them
Are you interested in a rear Lester with stock 1977 drum brake set-up?Danny, i did use the search button and only got seven hits, that's why i posted the question. i just bought a front 19" 7 spoke off of ebay and am going to try and starting hunting now for the rear to match. NOT true. I've put 185,000 miles on a set since Christmas 1977 (present from the wife) with ZERO problems. Also have run tubeless tires since they were available....also with zero problems.I've heard that they were crack prone. Also, not really a defect, but those made for HD's were machined with a tire bead profile that is now obsolete.
