Just bought this frame, pretty nice. Trying to sort out the title for it. So, how many digits are in a 1971 VIN? And, was the VIN printed into the neck AND on the cone motor in 1971? Or was it engine only VIN in 1971 from the factory?

Should be 9 digits eg. 3G12345H9. The number should be both on the frame and engine. Hope this helps. Check out: http://www.shovelhead.us/specs/vinearly.htm
