Trying to put early Triumph front end together but parts are in piles,, bottom end looks to have some sort of key way in it

That is kinda a Triumph dampner, kinda not. I would not use it. Looks like something somebody modified. The ones with the keyway in the bottom are for like 1956 to 65 or so,the one with the roll pin is for the early rigid legs and some early swingarm stuff.
