getting this stuff out'a the way...<o></o>

Been hanging around here for a month or so, found by the way of the HAMB. Glad I ran across you guys, cause while I always enjoy the cars and the scene, I've been a bike guy for all of my life. <o></o>

Never posted much over there, just soaked up the good info and good BS'in. I'll Probably do the same here, but I hope we can get more technical stuff flowin 'cause you boys sure do like to chit-chat. (jus' joshin')<o></o>

Found the HAMB right before the first 'Live Fast' event in <st1:city><st1>Houston</st1></st1:city>....I have a '66 Galaxie 2-door Hardtop, so all that stuff was really good for seeing people in the area with the same interests.<o></o>

Like I mentioned before, I'm a bike guy...so this place is lookin' good. I never really liked the Chopper thing, although occasionally a bobber catches my eye...and the only Harley's that really tickle me are old Flat-trackers.
I have no dis-respect for any of those, just not my thing. My thing is more Cafe, street-trackers, even stockers.<o></o>

I have a '74 850 Commando that I've ridden for some time now, currently in transition to a Norvil special (minus bullett fairing). Also I recently picked up a '71 Tiger which I'm just gonna leave mostly stock and ride around while the 850 is apart.<o></o>

Good to be here, guys (here's pics of the Tiger and the naked Norton)

Oh man, you had to say "EL Rey" didn't you. Now I'm gonna have to hit it on the way home.

Thanks for the welcome, hope to see you out-and-about sometime soon.

Yep!
Part of my weekly ritual is to go to Raymond's on Jackson Hill for a haircut and to look at the latest Hustler mag, then to El Rey to grab some tacos for the drive back up 290.
Don't even get me started on Shipley's Do-Nuts...

awwww, fk. Best do-nuts in the world, period. That KrispieKreamCrap can't hold a candle to 'em.

They have their headq'rs (I guess) on N.Main just north of their shop, across from a house I use to rent. Every time I left for work in the morning, that damn 'Shipley's' logo staring me right in the face. Pure torture

Norhill, just southeast of the intersection of Studewood and 14th.
....near the Fiesta or the Shiloh ice house.

Where are you located?

Thanks, Baytown. Damn, there's more than a few of us in the area.

Ask Tom about Vicksburg, MS and the origin of the Shipley's brand. The reason I ask is cause the Shipley family or part of it lived in Vicksburg, MS where I grew up, and I thought that's where the brand started. I was born in '60, and the Shipley's was in a little shop in downtown on the main drag sandwiched between Solly's Hot Tamales and a shoe repair shop. Is one of my earliest recollections from childhood. Ran like a KK, with hot nows coming out all the time, though no neon sign. We used to go in for donuts and milk or ice cream a couple of times a week, and would just wait a few minutes for the hot ones. I grew up knowing the Shipley family, particularly Mrs. Shipley, who was in her 50s when I was in my late teens, early 20s. Mrs. Shipley is gone now, I believe, but of course Shipley's is still there, in about 3 locations in V'burg. I always pick some up (plain glazed, of course) when I'm there visiting family. The very best donuts in the whole world. Bar none.
There was a Billy and Bobby Shipley that lived down the street from me.
Their dad owned the one around my neighborhood.
The history can be found here...

Welcome... good to know there is another one of us out there.
