Ok i have a79 fxs that has beel converted to an fl it has the original 2 piece tanks that have red letters and also say amf. are these tanks a bit smaller than regular fatbobs???
did they make more than one size factory fatbobs on shovels?? this pic is exactly what my tanks look like not my bike just an example. exact color and everything

should be either 3.5 gallon or 5 gallon fatbob tanks. Yours look like 3.5

3.5 for FX's (except for FXWGs) and 5.0 for FLs. I'm not 100 % sure about '71 superglides. They MIGHT have come with 5's or 3.5's.

FLH had 5 gal fatbobs since about 65.

71-72 FX Superglide had 3.5 gal fatbobs.
One piece 3.8 gal Superglide tank came out in 73.
No FX fatbobs until 77 FXS Lowrider.

From 79 on you could get one piece tank in the FXE
or the 3.5 fatbobs in the FXEF.

FXWG Wideglides had the 5 gal fatbobs.
