I'll guess i'll stop lurking and post an intro....
My name is Tom aka Dat Dirty Rat (and I'm a ball breaker and fellow dousche bag!) as some of you already may know from some of the other boards.....But for those who dont me I was raised around mostly Hot Rods, kustoms and other unfinished shitboxes that we all seem to become passionate about....But my one passion that i never followed my heart with wich i regret now is motorcycles...I guess mainly because i've had some friends that have passed because of accidents on bikes but still deep down i want to ride...It wasnt until i went to Cali a few years back that the flame was relit again and i got to see some incredible bobbers,,,,I was hooked....But then again i wasnt surprised cause the West Coast has that flava to it wich inspires many of us to do what we do.....So ever since I've buried my head in magazines and books doing my homework on bikes cause I'm shooting to find something in the spring since i currently do not own a bike right now.....But i will see what kind of cards life will deal me since i have some priorities that come 1st....But if I'm fortunate enough to pull some money together......Bass--I will be hitting you up holmes cause i like your style!...lolol

I would like to get everyones opinion on something real quick--Since i've never owned a motorcycle wich would be the best route for me to go? Should i buy one done and learn what i need to know on that as far as mechanicals & maintance or what not....or build something from the groundup and learn as i go along.....wich i would love to do cause thats how i usually prefer how to do things but time & etc are always against me it seems....But this is different and some new ground for me to learn how to walk on....So please guide my lost soul down the right path of a holy roller!

Any info or opinions would be greatly appreciated...

Spike- I really wish you would have waited till Spring...lolol

I would like to get everyones opinion on something real quick--

My route back into the bike world was to buy something cheap to ride about on while getting back into 'the groove', and then started buying the parts for what I really wanted to build. I have now sold my old chop and I have most of the bits I need to build my Triumph for next summer.
I found doing it that way I met up with lots of people who encouraged me and guys who could do the jobs I couldn't, and I had plenty of wrench work fixing the little 'quirks' of my cheap ride!! .
Thanks for the advice...

I love the website to holmes...Alot of nice stuff....I really dig the the 1st bare metal project along with JP's bar hopper and the 30's speed racer....
Wasssup douchebag! :)
Glad ya finally intro'd and welcome aboard....
Oh yeah, happy new year too..DB

Tonester.
I forgot this earlier....Not sure if ya wanted my oppinion too..but i'll give it to ya anyway..only because this is what was told to me back when, and i'm glad it was.:)
That advice would be to find a cheep bike that runs good and is safe as a first bike. Get to know the feel of riding, and up keep of the bike..
Once you have a few mile's of riding a basic bike, then i'd move onto something 'special', or build one..
To have to work out bug's, or constantly wrench on a bike, as your learning to ride or just getting used to riding isn't a lot of fun..

Thats exactly what i did way back when i did have bike's.. I started with a 550 Yamaha maxim. Definatly not a bad ass bike at all, but very reliable and it worked great as my "first" road bike because i didn't have to do anything to it but maintain it, so it allowed me to concentrate on learnig how to ride and handle a road bike ..

Either way it'll be cool to have a you and a few other's with bike's so we can all ride together..once i get mine done that is.
