Do not have a picture . But in the harley parts book they show that stuff and if I remember right the lower part will come off if rotated like 1/4 turn after you get the spring tension off alittle. Every thing comes off the bottom. Good luck and be safe the first one I took apart put a hole in the sheet rock across the room from me..

I put something like those onto my crappy moped with the worn out shocks to make the ride tighter and make it so I didn't have to buy new shocks.

Look at the bottoms and you see how they come apart. The lower collar has to rotate 90 degrees to allow the eyelet to pass through. So build a compressor that will allow toy to turn the collar once it unseats from the edge of the eyelet and will allow it to release enough to remove all the spring tension. That means the compressor is pretty long!
Those shocks were probably off a Sportster.

I've made a spring compressor out of two old harley cluch plate's and three peace's of 5/16 allthread. worked great !
+1 'Cept I used 1/2" allthread in the clutch plate's bigger holes, and a wrap of duct tape around the center hole to keep from scratching the chrome.

thats a nice springer, and frame ,looks like the whole set-up has 60's all over it.and those beat shocks actually look good on the frame,I think keeping them makes sense maybe have some solid spacers turned if you need the pre-load and dont like the stack of coins effect.nice stuff
