Hubcap Help

Hey guys.

I'm trying to find some info regarding the origins of these hubcap setups, I first thought it was 1930's DeSoto or Cord or something but I have really no idea, and I'm wrong a lot.

So, anyone know..? I'm thankful for any help.

The last one looks like an artillery wheel from a 36 dodge???

They used to make aftermarket hubcaps for bikes...Harleys I know....you can find them every now & then on E-gay...
The wheels on the knuckle do look artillery like.....got me baffled...

Look for old 40's Lincoln caps and trim rings, lot of 1930's cars offer 16 wheels ,,those caps could be made to work for ya

I made the rear one for mine from 16" Pontiac trim rings, they look great.
The ones on the knuck are caps, aftermarket ones, they made a lot of cool junk back then.

Ok guys, thanks for all the replys.

I've owned/own various types of aftermarket 'wheel discs' made for Harley's, so I know a little bit about them. And I love the scans, really cool of you to post them on here.

However, the 'discs' I posted pics of is not made for a motorcycle, they are made for a car, and that leaves me kind of clueless since I'm not too hip on cars. I’m not too hip on anything really but I still need to find out who made these caps/trim rings.

The suggestions you guys came up with so far so far are excellent, but I don't think we're quite there yet, the artillery wheels seem to be a solid steel wheel that are similar in design to the one on the red Knuckle but that disc looks to be a thin ‘hubcap’ type, and it’s bolted together from two different covers. It is the ‘big’ ones I’m trying to figure out, not the center part hub caps.

you might get better help on the jalopy journal, if they are car hub caps.

those look just like 34 to 36 chrysler six/airflow/airstream 16 inch wheels = 10,12 and 14 hole but.....theyre pressed steel .
would someone carve steels for covers? = weight.
you can see the spokes thru the holes .

notice the shocks on the flattie..

The ones in the first picture look suspiciously like Porsche items!
And as you can see they do not fit the rims!

Robbie, i think you are on the right path.

But Your right, they do not fit properly. They are 16" rims on the bike, and below are porsche 356 16" trim rings.

Very rare and highly desireable

This set apparently has sold for $1500

The other thing that I am thinking are Beetle trim rings, these are 15" and probably more likely ( as you can see the hubcaps do not fit the bikes rims).

However these caps (as far as I know) were introduced in 1967. Of course there is no way of knowing but I would say the photo looks before that time.

On closer comparison, the dish of either of these caps doesnt match the bike, so its probably moot.

What’s up with the front end on that flathead? Looks like fake glide covers on a springer. The original XZotics parts.

aftermarket to make your springer look like the new wideglide front end. had a ad somewhere that introduced these but cant find it now.

On that flatty,
Front street is calling then "Glory Rings" and they are for action on egay. I SOOOO wanted a set, but it is too rich for my budget.

If you look closely at the "arty wheel", you can see the spokes behind the cover that is bolted together over the spoked rim.

I know, right?

These were NOS, and that's what these hubcap things are going for now (higher in Japan).

Front street has spun their own sets in the past, and I think they are less spendy.

I SOOO want a set of wheel covers or trim rings, but no way can I shell out >500 for a fancy dress-up piece. I am thinking of finding junk yard hubcaps of an old car and seeing if I can fab my own setup.

I got a pair of 53-54 pontiac 15" Hub Caps off E-bay the other day... 25-30 bucks each... I can live with that... if it doesn't work out they will be a nice wall piece in the shop. They sort of look like the MoonEye disks.... they are about 145 - bucks... plan B

Hope they work out, cann't wait til they arrive
