Howdy: Vintage East-Los Family Bike Pics

I just thought I'd log on here and share some family pics I found.

They seem more appropriate here than on the HAMB.

These are shots of my In-Laws and friends at the drags, the lakes, in East LA, and down Mexico way.

Enjoy!

It's great to see some pics from 'back in the day' , it gives wannabe's like me a chance to see how they REALLY did it, and it's also given me some cool ideas for my T120 project. Thanks, and Keep 'em coming!

Wow! It looks like your family was really in to it! Great pix. Those must have been the days. Cool drag, custom, dirt, road race, LSR........too cool. Can you give us a little more background? Any more pix?
Phil, great pics thanks... are any of those friends/family still riding and any of those bikes still around??
Love the pictures, I'd like to see more. It must be pretty cool to have the pictures as a reminder of your family's bike history.

I have more but I don't have time to put them up.

My mother in law saw this and was happy. It got her to open up about a lot of the pix. I think I'm going to write a book about the lives of the people in the pix.

My wife has the Photos copywrited so please don't use them for profit. ;)

As far as anybody still riding...

The guy that you see in most of the pics is my Father in Law and he doesn't ride any more. He was in a race in Mexico and rode off a cliff and broke his back among other things. I don't think he rode after that.

Rumor amongst the family is that he has a 1946 Vincent Black Shadow hidden away somewhere. Apparently he had several and kept one but swears he sold it. But most people believe he NEVER would have sold it and he's vague about who and when he sold it.

There are interesting stories about everyone in those pictures.

I'm going to try to compile a written history on them all.

In many ways they are the REALITY behind the fantasy of "The Wild Ones" and all the Teen Angst movies of the 50's.

Their stories aren't all romanticized...
