how "SHOULD" the classifieds work?
When someone posts something for sale. Should it be first in line gets first shot, then to the 2nd interest party on the list, and so on. OR should it be your buddy or local cat who posted 7th on the thread and a couple days late and too bad for everyone else. I think it should be the first example, otherwise just email your buddies and save Ryan/ jockey journal the thread space/$. What do you think? How about the administrators? I'd like to know cause I'm kinda calling someone out...

I got the short end of a deal like that on a sweet bike earlier this year.
Sucks, but its the sellers deal. If he isnt honorable, it will catch up to him sooner or later.

there was someone (who ended up banned on like his 3rd day here ..) who made a huge to-do over a chainguard I think it was, and posting vs pm'ing ..
but this brings up a very relevant point that should be considered by, as Trent says, the responsible seller ..
if you will set your preferences in the "user control panel" so that you get an email when you have a PM, or when someone re's to your thread, it REALLY simplifies tracking the timeline of responses ..
and I know, from posting a part in several different boards/forums .. and saying "email response", & here "PM or email" .. every single PM sent or post replied to here sends an immediate email, you dont have to try & figure out time & time zones etc from posts .. if Everything hits your email ..
many folks dont know they even have a pm, until they happen to log in to post .. this is frustrating itself, when you figure it's the "quick" way to contact someone ..
it's a very versatile system, and a great one, set up your "notifications" for both PM's and "subscribe to thread" .. you'll know right away if someone posted to your thread from months ago .. ok, maybe more emails to delete but well worth it for staying atop biz ..

Personally I really like it the way its set up over on the HAMB now. Just do the PM thing only, and notify when its sold.
As far as who its sold to, it should be strictly a business deal. Its always best to not mix business and friendship. Whoever has the money first. Ultimately its up to the seller who to sell too. BUt if he's going to show favoritism to locals or buddies. At least let the others know, and don't be surprised if people loose interest. And if one makes a commitment, you shouldn't doubleback just because a friend might be interested. Bad business.

I would like to see the 1st person that posts it get it if they are ready to paypal the money or make arrangements to get the money to the person posting the ad. Also, you should send a PM to let the seller know that you replied to his ad.
If this becomes a problem, I'll ban the seller.

i had one dude all pissed off at me on the hamb cuz he was first up,said he wanted it,,then said,"well,let me see if i can come up with the $$$" after i explained the situation that i needed quick cash,,,the next day another dude stepped up and sent the money overnight,,that dude was SOO pissed!-
I had the $ ready and was just waiting to hear if the persons in front of me on the thread fell through/ initial pm sent as well. Couple days later I re pm'd just to say I was still in. Got a pm'd reply that someone below me (they posted interest a day later than me). was coming to pick it up. ? I say that's total bullshit! Ken

listen ken, this is most obviously about me so here is an explanation that you absolutely are not entitled to but I will do it to save this messageboard from your little childish whining.... kustomchief lives very close and was the first person to message me and tell me he would come pick it up imeadiatly. if you want to get into order you were like the fifth or sixth person to message me. as a seller i have NO responsibility to letting anyone know what is going on with my transaction past the fact that someone was coming to pick it up already. on top of just having surgery i also do not hover on this board like some people so if you message me it may take a few days to get a response. so there you have it.. you have gotten a response from myself and ryan so now please for the sake of everyone on here stop crying over spilled milk and annoying everyone who has better things to talk about than what you got your feelings hurt over. however as for " calling me out"...watch what you say about people...you dont know me! if you want to call me out i live not to far from you and would be more than happy to settle this in person! message me in private and ill give you my adress...whenever you feel man enough you come see me! otherwise keep your fucking mouth shut about me
