i beleive you are suppsed to heat the shaft REALLY hoty and pull the key out with pliers. at least for triumphs, when they say hot like cherry red

There is usually an internal thread in the hub that you can screw a proper puller into to remove them. If not you may have to get creative with some other sort of puller or even resort to wedges and a brass drift...if you do, be careful to block behind the primary case to avoid cracking it.

There is a thread on the inside of it.

I will have to find that correct puller.
