ok,,picked up a switch ,,not sure what year ,,but missing the key,,want to get a new tumbler but it has no numbers on it ( others seem to ) who offers a replacement tumbler ? are they different thru the years ?? I remember being told once it was just a briggs and stratton key

Many of those old locks have had the "tumblers" removed, and they'll lock/unlock with anything: screwdriver. knife, etc. The tumblers are little flat plates of different lengths. The locks, as mentioned, were made by Briggs & Stratton, and a good older locksmith should be able to fix you up with tumblers and keys.

I knew when you started writing about stock switches and Hummer tanks you'd be looking for one of those rings, like your post in wanted. Good luck.

If it has no numbers it is a '48 to '63 switch. They had no keys as the fork lock was considered adequate protection from theft. You can replace the inner cylinder with a keyed type or run it as is with no key!
