Is it possible to use a set of newer fork tubes and sliders (late77-84 showa) FLH in a set of '50 FLH lower legs ?

I say no, I don't have one of each infront of me but I think it's because of stack up. In other words the seal - bushing relationship will not be in the right spot. Wait for another opinion because I am not 100% sure. tim

I don't think so. The 50's lower legs have both bushings pressed into it. The Showa's have the lower bushing that fits into a groove in the fork tube.
I think you can get some "reproduction" drum brake sliders that work with the whole Showa fork tube assembly though.
