painting this tank and need to take out cap gauge. anyone done this and what way to do it with out destroying it. thanks

disconnect the wire and remove the plug. then pull the gauge straight up. probably have to rock it side to side and front to back but it will pop out.

What Geezer said but there's also a tang on the bottom side of the FXDWG tanks that is folded over the wires so bend it up just enough so the wire will slip out.
