Looks like the front wheel on my 84 is rubbish so am thinking of sliding in one from a twinkie. If I recall correctly I need to sort out the speedo drive, what else is required? Any years better than others?
I don't mess with much new stuff, but I think the late model wheel takes a bigger axle than the early style, doesn't it?Looks like the front wheel on my 84 is rubbish so am thinking of sliding in one from a twinkie. Yes, but the bearings swap easy....as far as sealed bearings go in the later model stuff. I'd look into something before '99 for ease of replacement. Are you a single disc'er or duals out front? Looking to use the later billet style hub or the steel earlier version? Timkens or sealed cartridge bearings. 10" rotors still or 11.5" ? Just some things you need to consider depending on the front end/brakes/wheel size....I don't mess with much new stuff, but I think the late model wheel takes a bigger axle than the early style, doesn't it?
