i know physicaly how to do it, but legally with the DMV what happens if you have a swingarm bike that u want to put in a rigid frame (new not old HD frame)??? do u have to re-register the bike bc the frame wont have matching numbers to the motor?? special construction?? anyone whos done this that can help would be appreciated. what year did the registration just go to the motor not the frame and motor as a unit matching? thanks in advance

I was originally going to go that route when I first started my project and it required a special construction title, inspection, new numbers, insurance, etc.

I opted to hardtail my swingarm frame. Title, plates, etc. stayed the same, easy.

Is it legal to take the oem numbered neck off the swingarm frame and switch it with that of the new rigid aftermarket frame keeping all the numbers in tact?

1969 was the last year that the number was only on the engine case (Shovel w/pan bottom). Also the same year that AMF took over.
